What is Foodshare?

Foodshare is a national not-for-profit, 100% volunteer-powered charity which connects growers (schools, allotments and kitchen gardeners) with local charities. Our aim is for every school to have a Foodshare Bed and for allotment holders and kitchen gardeners to grow a little more and share their surpluses with a local charity that feed people. It’s a brand new way to give to charity! We call it Food Philanthropy and it is inspiring a new generation of people “Growing to Give”.

In 2010, Foodshare launched across the UK with the first 250 charities, from Marie Curie to local homeless shelters, children hospices to Barnardos signing up within three days to find Food Philanthropists – growers sharing surpluses or setting up a dedicated Foodshare Bed. [Read the full story...]
